"The Hiding Place"

by Corrie Ten Boom and Elizabeth John Sherrill

Lately, I've been inspired by "The Hiding Place", BY Corrie Ten Boom and Elizabeth John Sherrill. I was inspired to read the book after hearing a San Antonio, Texas pastor talk about Corrie Ten Boom, a holocaust survivor. The hiding place introduces a family who hides those subjected to concentration camps. Corrie is a survivor of those camps and was subjected to exceptionally harsh treatment. She was also a witness to the deterioration of her family, with only her brother surviving until the end. I was inspired by both Her perspective on her condition and her bond with her sister Betsie. (It helps to have to have someone to endure trials with, whether in cybersecurity work or life). Corrie vowed not to let the prison guards and officials break her. this is a seemingly impossible challenge, but God was her strength and focus, and he makes the impossible possible.

What resonated the most from the book:

Towards the end of the book, Corrie visits Ravensbruck (formerly East Germany) to attend a tribute to honor her sister Betsie and the 96,000 other women who died there. Corrie learned that her release was a “Clerical Error,” or better yet, a divine intervention. All women in her age group were sent to the gas chamber a week later.
